Here is different styles that we have covered over the past year, internationally and urban styles have widened my range and made me a better dance than I would of thought a year ago due to never thinking about learning these styles before.
International styles ;

Here is a video of Samba Reggae from researching this style, Samba Reggae is very popular In Brazil, from this style it is all about the hips and bottom, the style is allocated with a range of individuals that form in a small community to perform this. This style can be part of performance or part of a warm - up. However some individuals will just perform this in their country as a religion, style of dance to represent who they are.

Milonga is a style of dance that is very sophisticated and sexy, were you would perform this at a party. Normally Milongo lessons would be needed before this and then this can develop as a hobbie for can progress to competitions. Footwork is very important as well as for the girls using the hips and body linements.

I loved Maculele it is a style to really get you in a positive mood and need alot of energy for this, the style is more like a Circus based theme, due to the amount of colours, tricks and energy that needs to be used for this. Stamina is very important for this piece. The style is based in Brazil, and this would be in connection with slavery, when all the slaves would be together for the day and celebrate freedom, they would not class this as a dance style due to this dance originating their countrie.
Bollywood; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvHKmBZ2T2I
I already knew a range of Banghra , however throughout this year I have learnt alot more, through body placement and routines for this style. I love bollywood and have understood the concept of Bollywood either being fast with Bhangra or can be performed slow and suttle. You need a strong relationship with other individuals with this piece and the dynamics can be either sharp or suttle depending on the theme for the Bollywood dance. Costume is crutial for Bollwood, very bright making sure you stand out, full out, they normally perform bare foot.
Flamenco;

Flamenco is very fast and sexy, Flamenco is more feminine and normally performed on their own as individual just in a relationship with the music, the dynamics are very fast and sharp. Showing sexyness and passion presenting fire, the colours are mainly red for the flooring or as a costume normally a tight long, jazzled dress, the sharpness is in the feet and hands showing sharp arm placements.

Jazz dance can either be Lyrical or musicality due to having different emotions with Jazz. There is a range of techniques that you need to consider with Jazz dance like arm placements, holding your core and co- ordination. Placement is very important and always needs to be considered when dancing. I feel throughout the year I have progressed through jazz dramatically Posture is important throughout this, expecially when lifting, walking and physical movement.
Ballet ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um6y_IQGU8s
From October 2013 I have been learning Ballet, I feel from the Technique I have positively improved through jazz and Ballet due to the amount of technique you need to engage. Ballet needs alot of focus due to engageing every muscle in your body.
Contemporary; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzbJHMJ2uEg
Contemporary is engaging dance through emotions, you can also engage Lyrical. Contemporary is about expressing the body, engaging technique but also allowing the body to unfold and release, this will help through the movement/ choreography, throughout the year I have learnt alot of movement and historical context about Contemporary for the following years.

Street dance styles, this video includes, Krumping which is a style that has alot of force and power showing expressions of angre throughout the dance. Popping which is about the isolation of the body and engaging the muscles to allow the pop, also vogue which is a feminine dance however throughout the on going years, lads are experiencing and interpreting this style alot more, this also links into Wacking which is very sexy, girly and interprets connections with the arms and wrists making them very powerful and sharp hitting the beat. Isolations, these are engaging the neck and head to isolate throughout co-ordinations. Then there is Locking which is full of funk and having a good time, styleising the routine. Then there is Old skool hip - hop this is like Locking but with alot more funk and engaging all the body alot more, rather than just the wrists and legs with Locking, I struggle with locking due to the co-ordination.

House my favourite dance style, very hard but you can be free and have alot of fun with this, by engaging technique of being on the balls of your feet, therefore you can make up alot of moves with this style.
This style was firsty discovered in clubs and then widened to become a style were this gets participated in competitions and battles.

Breaking all floor work, being on the grounds of your feet, this has been a new style I have learnt this year and can progress so much more, I have found with breaking is that you need to be able to hold your body weight in the air to progress to alot more harder/ bigger tricks.
Commerical dance has grown with me throughout the year, I have engaged so much more, and enjoy learning commerical dance the dance can be very fast engaging sexyness, while being in a relation to the audience, commercial dance can be seen on Television, promotions as well as modelling, commerical is very this century and every enjoys this dance. The dynamics are very fast, engaging technique and sexyness and power throughout the whole piece.
